Kylie Cosmetics Matte Lip Kit Review
I’m a little late on my review for Kylie Cosmetics Matte Lip Kit, but I’ve had so many amazing things happen the past few weeks that had to take priority (i.e. giveaway & my podcast). But my review for the Kylie Cosmetics Matte Lip Kit is finally here.
Background: I wasn’t going to buy them, and I was doing really well. I held off for a couple of months. But the beauty blogger inside me was dying to know if they are worth the hype and money.
Disclaimer: this my opinion. I’ve seen how nasty people can get when someone says something negative about Kylie Cosmetics. I had a great experience as well as a terrible one with the company. I wanted to be honest and share both.
I bought this kit when I was home sick curled under my blankets on my bed browsing through Instagram. She released the her biggest re-stock yet about an hour ago. I saw someone comment below saying they were still in stock. I, being the curious person I am, hopped over to the site to see if they were actually still in stock. To my surprise they were. I put Exposed into my cart and quickly checked out before my brain had time to release I just bought something.
Price: $57.59 CAD
This is the price that was charged to my credit card, this includes taxes, shipping, and exchange rate.
Shipping: I can’t remember how long it took, I want to say between 8-10 business days (which is good, USPS claims International shipments could take 10-15 Business Days). As well the shipping costs were kinda expensive ($14.95 USD). I know a few friends who haven’t bought the lip kits because the shipping is so expensive.
When it arrived in my mailbox I didn’t have any problems. There was no explosion of lipstick or a messed up brush. Everything looked totally fine.
Overall I was really happy with the arrival of the package.
Exposed – Review
The smell is very strong. I don’t know what is; some say it’s a sweet candy, others say is vanilla. Whatever the smell is it’s very artificial sent.
The second thing I noticed was the texture. This liquid lipstick is a lot more liquidy than liquid lipsticks I’ve tried; like I’m worried if I tipped the bottom upside down all the product would come out.
I know a lot of people are saying the product is super drying and looks terrible on your lips; I personally didn’t find that. Yes the product looks drying, but I don’t think it looks anymore drying than any other liquid lipstick I’ve tried.
Something to note: I applied a second coat on top of a coat that had started to fade, and it shrivelled up my lips. So if you’re going to re-apply I recommend taking off the other product and then re-applying.
After a couple of weeks of using the lip liner I noticed it fell back into the pencil, like there was extra space at the bottom or something. I saw one person complain about this. I sharped it and I always use a light hand when applying it from now on.
Weirdly enough, I was in bed not feeling well again when I impulsively purchased this matte lip kit too.
Price: $58.48 (exchange rate was different that day)
Shipping: I purchased this it was on Friday July 1. There was a disclaimer that none of these orders would be shipped out until July 5 due to the long weekend. My order wasn’t shipped out until July 7 (no big deal to me).
It wasn’t until July 15th that I thought “weird, last time it didn’t take this long.” So I went to track my order and it was in the Netherlands. Which, as you know, is no where close to the continent I live on.
I emailed customer service (I honestly wasn’t expecting a response until next week because Kylie Cosmetics has such bad reviews for customer service). Someone emailed me back later that day, telling me I had to contact my local postal office and get them to deal with it (obviously the wording was more professional than that).
I was annoyed. Canada Post can’t do anything until it’s in their system, and it won’t be in their system until it arrives in Canada (I work for a small business that deals with Canada Post, and this is my understanding).
I sent the email back, saying I couldn’t contact Canada Post because it won’t be in their system until it arrives in Canada. And that I, being a consumer, put faith in their company to deliver the product I purchased.
Monday arrives and I check my tracking number. My package is back in the States now, and on it’s way to Canada.
I thought it was weird how my package sat in the Netherlands for days but the moment I send an email, it magically gets sent back to me.
So the problem is solved. I have my package. I wasn’t happen how the customer service rep wrote to me (she talked down to me), but in the end I got the package.
If you managed to read through my whole little rant, thank you I’m done now and feel a lot better.
Koko K – Review
The formula is slightly thicker than Exposed which I like. The shade is beautiful and long lasting. It fades too when I eat food. As well I haven’t had a problem with the lip liner, yet. The brush is smaller, but I don’t really have a preference.
- Will I buy more? Probably not, unless she comes out with a beautiful shade, but there are so many dupes out there.
- Do I recommend them to someone else? If you want them I say go for it. Just make sure to keep an eye on your package.
- They are drying, and you can’t really put on a second coat because it will really dry your lips.
- Is it a scam? No, I eventually received my products. As well I don’t think they are overpriced if you are living in the United States. Shipping, and the exchange is definitely more than I would want to pay; and that is one of the factors I probably will not purchase again.
- Amazing pigmentation.
Have you tried the Matte Lip Kits? What are you opinions?
