How to be More Productive

It’s back to school season. Last year this time I did a post about Overcoming Procrastination this year I’m going to do a post on how to be more productive in a day. I was actually going to do this earlier on in the summer but I decided to wait until now so it would be helpful for everyone!

These are quick tips on how to be more productive because everyone is different. Some tips will work better for others.

Daily Goals

I have post all about goal setting. Set little ones to accomplish each day to help you say on track.

Drink Water

How does water help with being more productive? I’m glad you asked. Water is a great natural source of energy. So drinking more water will give you more energy and your body will be happy.

Write your Ideas Down

Have you ever been working on something and suddenly you got a great new idea for a blog post or suddenly your thesis for your paper pops in your head? Write it down, that way you can forget about it (but still remember it) and re-focus on the task you were doing.

This also is good if you can’t seem to focus because there is so much going through your head. Write all those random thoughts down and you’ll be able to focus again.

Work in Intervals

When I was in high school studying for a final exam our math teacher told us to work for 50 minutes, and take a 10 minute break. Then repeat. Trust me, this will help you stay focused because you know a break is coming soon.

Don’t Plan as Much

Having a productive day doesn’t mean you’re planning every minute of your day. This will probably stress out the majority of people. Plan the important things like appointments, but try not to plan every minute. Unless it really works for you.

Have a Routine

To some this is the definition of hell, they don’t want to live in repetition. While others will jump at this suggestion. You do you. But you should know I’m not talking about have this routine every single day for the rest of your life. I’m talking about waking up/ going to sleep the same time everyday, or having your lunch the same time everyday. Having a routine will help your organize your day.

Stop Multitasking

Your brain doesn’t like it, I know a lot of us think we’re awesome at multitasking but your brain isn’t. Try focusing on one task for a few minutes and then switch to the next.  You’ll be able to give more energy to one task which will probably result in a better final result.

Disconnect Yourself

Find an empty cafe or library, turn off your phone (or put it on silent and have the screen turned over) and get work done. There won’t be any distractions from your friends asking what you’re up to.
