Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara Review
Let’s talk about mascaras. I’ve always been someone who loves voluminous lashes, but I’m not willing to pay $30+ for a mascara that would give me this effect. So when I was offered to review Givenchy’s new Noir Interdit mascara I was a little hesitate. It’s $38 which is a little more expensive than I would pay for a mascara, and what if it’s nothing special?
I typically settle on the $5-$8 ones from the drugstore, because I always believed they pretty much did the exact same thing. Although, the past few months I’ve been living off of the mascara samples. It allowed me to try new mascaras without the pressure from the price tag. There are some that totally blew me away, like the Smashbox X-rated mascara* (I’m definitely going to be buying the full size of that), and others that were a huge disappoint (Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes*).
So I came to the conclusion you can’t assume that a more expensive mascara will give you the results you want, sometimes drugstore mascaras are just as good, but there are times when paying $30 for a mascara is totally worth it. And this is one of those times.
Givenchy released this unique bendable mascara wand, which can bend to 90 degrees. From my understanding, I don’t think anyone has made a similar product yet. I’m not going to lie it was a little different using the wand at first, but I didn’t notice a huge difference in the application. Having the wand bent was surprisingly helpful when I applied the mascara to my bottom lashes. I don’t know if I have more control with this design, but I didn’t have any smudged mascara around my lashes. And they looked beautiful.
The mascara claims to give you volume and length, which it totally does. Although I would say it’s a natural look. I personally prefer more dramatic lashes with my mascara and was slightly disappointed with the results. But giving my lashes a second application helped add more volume and length. Overall I would not re-purchase the mascara for two reasons: 1.) I feel like I could achieve the lash look I want with a cheaper mascara (aka the Smashbox mascara), 2.) there’s a perfumey scent which lingers with you for the next hour (I just don’t like the scent).
Despite not wanting to re-purchase the mascara, I would still recommend the mascara to someone who is in the market for a high end mascara and isn’t used to dramatic lashes. My lashes didn’t clump at all, which really surprised me. So I could see people loving this mascara.
Have you tried this mascara out?
